‘Synthetic honey’ is a series of jewelry created to sound the alarm about the global decline in bee populations in recent years.
The title of the series highlights this latest attempt at survival and adaptability by incorporating the natural into the synthetic and combining the two materials used: epoxy resin and honeycomb.
The delicacy of honey is reinforced by resin, a process that resembles the natural formation of amber. The ring supporting the piece is made from several layers of walnut veneer. Inspired by bees' ability to adapt to a hostile environment, a capacity that stands in direct contrast to pessimistic scenarios about their disappearance, the entire concept takes on a symbolic duality: it is both a warning and a ray of hope.
The series relies on a mobilization executed in tandem by the creator and the wearer, aimed at helping to increase the number of bees in nature. The funds raised will be directed towards the purchase of bees and their release back into the wild.
